Usage & Billing

Understand your usage limits, view current consumption, and manage your subscription plan.

FutureBase plans have limits on message credits, content pages, file sizes, and team seats. This guide explains what each limit covers, how to view your current usage, and how to change your plan.

Usage limits

Message credits

Each plan includes a monthly message credit allowance. One credit is consumed each time your AI chatbot generates a response — across all channels (chat widget, Slack, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp, HelpScout).

Credits reset on your billing cycle date each month.

Content pages

The number of pages (URLs or documents) your knowledge base can index. Each URL crawled or file uploaded counts as one page.

File size

Maximum size per uploaded file (PDF, TXT, MD, DOCX). Files larger than the limit will be rejected at upload time.

Team seats

The maximum number of team members (any role) that can be in your organization simultaneously.

Viewing current usage

Go to Settings → Usage.

View your current consumption for the billing period:

  • Message credits used vs. included
  • Content pages indexed vs. limit
  • Team seats used vs. limit

The usage page updates in near real-time. Credit consumption from AI responses is typically reflected within a few minutes.

Usage alerts

You can configure email alerts when you reach a usage threshold:

Go to Settings → Usage → Alerts.

Set alert thresholds (e.g., notify me when I've used 80% of my message credits).

Save. Alerts are sent to the organization owner's email.

Upgrading your plan

Go to Settings → Billing.

Click Upgrade Plan.

Select the plan you want to upgrade to.

Enter or confirm your payment details.

Confirm the upgrade. Your new limits take effect immediately.

Upgrading mid-cycle is prorated — you pay only for the remaining days in the current billing period.

Downgrading your plan

Go to Settings → Billing.

Click Change Plan and select the lower tier.

Review the features you'll lose and confirm.

Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access to your current plan's features until then.

If your current usage exceeds the limits of the plan you're downgrading to, you may need to reduce usage before the downgrade takes effect. For example, if you have 80 content pages indexed and are downgrading to Hobby (50 page limit), you'll need to remove at least 30 pages.
